What it is and what it is used for

Zinc is an essential mineral with a role in normal immune function, wound healing, skin health, hormonal balance and antioxidant defence. Each capsule provides a high-strength 30 mg dose.

How to use

One capsule daily with food, or as directed by your prescriber. Taking it on an empty stomach commonly causes nausea.

Be aware of

At 30 mg this is above the usual daily requirement. Zinc taken at this dose over months can deplete copper and cause anaemia and nerve problems — use long term only under your prescriber's direction. Zinc reduces the absorption of some antibiotics (tetracyclines, quinolones) and of penicillamine — separate the doses by at least two hours. Do not double up with a multivitamin that also contains zinc.
